Camping at Totem Bay

Totems at Totem Bay

There are little snails and spiders in this tidal pool.

That is the boat we took out camping.

Here is some of our gear on shore.  The rifle is a .375 just in case a bear came into camp.

This looks like a dog made it but it is actually a slug.  About the same size as a dog would produce too.

Here is my tent site for the weekend.

The following photos are a kelp bed that was full of seals and sea otters.  They are a little hard to see since they really kept their distance.  We tried cutting the motor and drifting into the kelp but we still pushed the otters and seals away.  I tried taking a few shots through binoculars but they did not really turn out.

This is an incredibly calm day on the ocean.

Here is the kitchen of a random cabin we found.

Here is the bedroom of the cabin.

And here's the cabin.

Agate beach.

Common loon, followed me from Minnesota

I think that this is the first time I have seen the moon in Alaska.  This is like 10:30 or 11 at night.

This is sea asparagus or pickle weed.  We found it in a stream bed at low tide and it has a crunchy texture but it is fairly salty.

We went halibut fishing in and I caught a scuplin.  I also caught some sort of coral and a hermit crab.  I was the only lucky one on the boat.

Week 3

These pictures are just scenes taken during my lunch breaks.  Half way through the pictures there is a body of water in the distance, which is Duncan Canal.  That is a popular spot for the local crab fisherman.
